For some reason I can't caption the photos. In order we have (I think) an Olive Sided Flycatcher (photo 1), Blackburian Warbler (photo 2, 3), Bay-Breasted Warbler (Photo 4, 5), and some others. To lazy to look them up!

LEJOG Virtual Challenge: Mile 886.8, outskirts of Cairngorms National Park
If only I could magically transport myself there! Again, most of my real world mileage is via biking to work, though this time I did get some good short hikes in while on vacation in Washington state. Even put some nautical miles in on a kayak. Below is my virtual location. When I travelled to … Continue reading LEJOG Virtual Challenge: Mile 886.8, outskirts of Cairngorms National Park
Adventures in Birding-Spring Migration 2021: Waterfowl and Shorebirds around Chicagoland
It's been a work busy summer for me this year, hence the delay in getting my birding pictures posted for posterity! LEJOG Virtual Challenge, Mile Marker 812: Just north of the Firth of Forth
I virtually passed through Edinburgh, a city I had the pleasure of spending a few days in back in 2003 with my pal, Robin Miles. I'd have to go back to my "old school photo" albums to find pictures to share, so I will just rely on the interwebs. To get to my virtual point … Continue reading LEJOG Virtual Challenge, Mile Marker 812: Just north of the Firth of Forth
LEJOG Virtual Challenge, Mile 751.8: Welcome to Scotland
Finally, I have crossed into Scotland. We are in the homestretch. It has been a while since my last post. But in the meantime, between all … Continue reading LEJOG Virtual Challenge, Mile 751.8: Welcome to Scotland
Adventures in Birding: Savannah and the Low Country
Fully vaccinated and ready to travel! My first Angie Adventure in over a year took me to Savannah, Georgia in search of the Painted Bunting (and also Gullah history but that will follow in a separate post). Adventures in Birding: In Search of a Kingfisher and finally a decent pic of a Flicker!
On Saturday while on a bird walk led by my friend, we saw a Belted Kingfisher but I was unable to get a good photo so I went back to see if I could spot them again at the West Ridge Nature Preserve. No luck but I did see a very punk rock like Hooded … Continue reading Adventures in Birding: In Search of a Kingfisher and finally a decent pic of a Flicker!
Adventures in Birding: Prairie Chickens and Hawks in Southern Illinois…and a fw American White Pelicans
I signed up for an Illinois Audubon field trip to see Prairie Chickens at the Prairie Ridge Natural Area in Newton, Illinois. Every spring the males do a bit of a dance to attract the ladies. Adventures in Birding: Spring Migration has Sprung
Whenever I've had the chance, I've been getting out to practice my birding nad bird photography! Unfortunately, my camera didn't seem to be focusing well and it took me a bit to figure out what was going on. I dropped it back in June and was able to get it repaired but I think the … Continue reading Adventures in Birding: Spring Migration has Sprung
LEJOG Virtual Challenge, Mile 677: Just northeast of the Lake District
Spring is springing here in Chicago which has made it possible to commute more easily on my bike as well as take some longer walks, either while on my birding excursions or with Banita and Denali. Though the virtual trip doesn't have me going through the Lake District I thought I'd take you on a … Continue reading LEJOG Virtual Challenge, Mile 677: Just northeast of the Lake District
